Budget Fragrance in India: What ₹1,000 Actually Buys You

A thousand rupees is the most competitive price point in Indian fragrance, and the most dishonest. The same shelf holds 15 percent concentration EDPs and 2 percent body mists in identical packaging.
What the label tells you
- Eau de Parfum: roughly 15 to 20 percent fragrance oil. This is what you want.
- Eau de Toilette: roughly 5 to 15 percent. Acceptable, shorter wear.
- Eau de Cologne or body mist: under 5 percent. An hour, generously.
- No concentration stated at all: assume the lowest.
Where the money goes
Imported designer bottles carry duty, distribution and brand marketing. You are frequently paying two thousand rupees of overhead for four hundred rupees of juice. Domestic lab-formulated brands skip most of that, which is how a genuine EDP lands under a thousand.

What to avoid at this price
Anything sold as a clone of a designer fragrance without stating concentration. Anything with no note breakdown published. Anything promising a guaranteed reaction from other people — that is a claim no fragrance can substantiate.
